181102-N-XT039-2023 Norfolk (Nov. 2, 2018) Air department Sailors, assigned to the guided-missile cruiser USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55), retrieve an MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter assigned to the Grandmasters of Helicopter Maritime Squadron (HSM) 46 during flight operations conducted during a Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT) exercise. USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) carrier strike group (CSG) cruiser-destroyer (CRUDES) units participate in the first East Coast CRUDES SWATT. SWATT is a training exercise led by the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) to improve the Fleet’s lethality, capability and readiness. Leyte Gulf is currently home ported in Norfolk, and conducting work-ups in preparation for an upcoming deployment.
