ATLANTIC OCEAN (Nov. 6, 2018) A MK-45 5-inch/54-caliber gun is fired during an Integrated Maritime Portable Acoustic Sound Scoring (IMPASS) system evolution aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Nitze (DDG 94). IMPASS certification recognizes a ship’s ability to support ground forces by accurately firing a MK-45 5-inch/54-caliber gun. USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) carrier strike group (CSG) cruiser-destroyer (CRUDES) units participate in the first East Coast CRUDES Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT).
