181104-N-XT039-1133 VACAPES (Nov. 4, 2018) Deck department Sailors assigned to the guided-missile cruiser USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55), stow a rigid hull inflatable boat following a successful passenger transfer (PAXFER) conducted with the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Gonzalez (DDG 66) as part of a Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT) exercise. USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) Carrier Strike Group (CSG) cruiser-destroyer (CRUDES) units are completing the first East Coast CRUDES SWATT exercise. SWATT is led by the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) and is designed to increase warfighting proficiency, lethality, and interoperability of participating units.
