Master Sgt. Benjamen K. Pelster (right), a combat controller for the 123rd Special Tactics Squadron, receives the Bronze Star Medal from Col. David Mounkes, commander of the 123rd Airlift Wing, during a ceremony at the Kentucky Air National Guard Base in Louisville, Ky., Nov. 17, 2018. Pelster was instrumental in the execution of nine missions across five countries involving seven landing zones, nine forward area refueling point surveys and one drop zone certification in 2014. His efforts led to the establishment and expansion of critical air infrastructure in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and across the United States Air Forces Central Command’s area of responsibility.
