Sgt. Patrick VanCooley, a truck driver for Echo Company, 29th Brigade Support Battalion, with the Arizona National Guard, role-plays as an insurgent while waiting for soldiers to initiate their plan of attack here, Nov. 19. Soldiers from Bravo Company, 1-158th Infantry Battalion conducted training, which included an air assault mission where the soldiers egress from a UH-60 Black Hawk, moving on foot to engage with an enemy target and clear a building suspected of housing weapons and contraband. “It’s important that everyone is aware of their roles,” said Pvt. Andrew Wiemers, a motorman with B Company, 1-158th Inf. Bn. “Some of us are new and this training is a great opportunity for us to get a feel for how our deployment in Afghanistan will be.” The battalion is preparing for their second deployment to Afghanistan in 2013.
