U.S. Ambassador to Japan William Hagerty Visit

CHITOSE, Japan -- Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) Lt. Gen. Masato Taura (right), Northern Army commanding general, presents U.S. Ambassador to Japan William Hagerty (left) with a group photo during a tour of Camp Higashi - Chitose, December 12, 2018. The purpose of Hagerty’s visit was to discuss exercise Yama Sakura 75 — an annual bilateral command post exercise involving the U.S. Military and the Japan Self-Defense Force — and view U.S. and Japanese combat readiness and interoperability. Hagerty took time during the visit to meet with and recognize U.S. Servicemembers and Japanese military personnel participating in the exercise, while reaffirming commitment to the U.S.-Japan Alliance and continued peace and stability in the region.
