DoD Support to CBP Along the SWB

A Customs and Border Protection officer pushes away a role-playing Soldier during a mobile field force training exercise Dec. 13 at Douglas, Arizona. During the exercise, Soldiers familiarized themselves with the standing rules for the use of force. Department of Defense military personnel will not be conducting law enforcement functions, but are authorized to provide force protection for Customs and Border Protection personnel and help make sure CBP personnel can perform their assigned Federal functions. U.S. Northern Command is providing military support to the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to secure the southern border of the United States.
