The South Carolina National Guard conducted a deployment and guidon casing ceremony Dec. 21, 2018, in Graniteville, South Carolina, to recognize the 1221st Engineer Clearance Company’s mobilization in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. More than 140 Soldiers with the 1221st Engineer Clearance Company, South Carolina National Guard, will deploy for nine months to the Middle East providing route clearance support. The ceremony was for the South Carolina National Guard to officially recognize the unit’s mobilization with their friends and families in attendance prior to the holidays, but the Soldiers will not depart South Carolina till early 2019 for pre-mobilization training at Fort Bliss, Texas before deploying overseas.
