Recruits with Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, march during a final drill evaluation at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Dec. 22. Drill instructors call a cadence to their platoon to keep the recruits in step with each other while marching. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Alpha Company is scheduled to graduate Feb. 1.
