Recruits with Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, inspect their weapons during a final drill evaluation at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Dec. 22. Recruits learn and perform drill movements as a platoon throughout recruit training to eliminate individualism and create discipline. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Alpha Company is scheduled to graduate Feb. 1.
