U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Michael Oustayan breaks capsules over a hotplate which melts and releases 2-chlorobenzalmalononitrile gas during for a gas chamber qualification at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 19, 2018. Marines are required to show their proficiency with a M50 Joint Service General Purpose Mask by breaking the seal, allowing CS gas to fill the mask, then clearing their mask out.
