190123-N-UJ980-043 SAN DIEGO (Jan. 23, 2019) Naval Health Clinic Hawaii (NHCH) Command Master Chief Michael B. Gutierrez accepts the inaugural Captain Cheryl C. Ringer Memorial Award on behalf of the clinic’s staff at a ceremony held at Navy Medicine West’s (NMW) headquarters in San Diego. The winning entry was a project to reduce weight-based medication errors led by NHCH’s Capt. Marlene Sanchez, chief medical officer, and Lt. Cmdr. Vince Deguzman, pharmacy department head. NMW established the award in 2018 to recognize and inspire personnel within the region to implement and sustain continuous process improvement and high reliability innovations that enhance delivery of patient care, streamline administrative support processes, and improve the quality of all health care services.
