Sgt. Samuel Leon Rodriguez, 52nd Brigade Engineer Battalion, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, remains as still as possible as an Evans Army Community Hospital ophthalmologist carefully lifts the cornea of his eye in preparation to use a laser system to permanently correct his vision. Leon Rodriguez was one of the first Soldiers to have his Lasik eye surgery performed on Jan. 24, 2019, using the Alcon Wavelight EX-500 Excimer laser system. The system is the latest in refractive eye surgery technology and was recently installed in the hospitals War-Fighter Refractive Eye Surgery Program’s surgical suite.
