The South Carolina National Guard conducted the Best Warrior Competition awards ceremony at McCrady Training Center in Eastover, South Carolina, Jan. 30, 2019 to recognize the Best Warrior Non-Commissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year. The 2019 Soldier of the Year is Spc. Chase Jones, Detachment 1, Delta Company, 1-111th Aviation Battalion, 59th Aviation Troop Command avionic mechanic. The 2019 Best Warrior Non-Commissioned Officer is Sgt. James McCants, Alpha Company, 1-118th Infantry Battalion, 218th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade fire team leader.
