190118-M-HB658-0165 PACIFIC OCEAN (Jan. 18 2019) An AH-1W Super Cobra with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 (VMM-163) (Reinforced), 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), performs take-offs and landings from the flight deck of the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26). VMM-163, 11th MEU’s Aviation Combat Element, continuously performs flight operations in both day and night time environments to achieve qualifications in order to maintain proficiency. The Marines and Sailors of the 11th MEU are conducting routine operations as a part of USS Boxer Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) in the eastern Pacific Ocean. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Staff Sgt.
