SGT Patrick Kirby is currently slotted as a 46S30 in the 40th Public Affairs Detachment at Fort Campbell, Ky. He has been assigned to the PAD since June, 2017. He has recently completed the Unit Prevention Leader Course, the Basic Leader Course, and the Hazardous Material course. SGT Kirby is the acting Battalion HAZMAT representative for HHBn, 101st Airborne Division, he also assists in running the Battalions Air Assault preparation course. SGT Kirby won 1st place last year in the FORSCOM level Keith L. Ware competition, in the News Story category.
Before coming to the PAD, SGT Kirby attended the Defense Information School in 2017. For a year before DINFOS, he was on the job training with 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. His first story published was before he began OJT and was a front page printed article.
Before SGT Kirby began his transition into the Public affairs career field, he was an 11B Infantryman with 3rd Squadron, 4th US Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. During his four years with the 25th ID, he was assigned as a Scout Team leader, a Senior Scout, and a Scout in the Brigade Reconnaissance Troop, Comanche troop, 3/4 Cav. While there, SGT Kirby attended and passed the Air Assault School, the Jungle Operations School, and Tagalog language course. He also earned his Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal there.
Before being assigned to the 25th, SGT Kirby attended Infantry OSUT at Fort Benning, Ga.
SGT Kirby enlisted in the Army Feb. 2013 out of Westminster, Md.
