Overton, who was born and raised in Ratchaburi City, Ratchaburi Province, Thailand, graduated Daruna Ratchaburi Wited Suksa School in March 2014 before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in December later that year. “The great thing about the people of Thailand is, even though the people don’t know you,” says Overton, “they will make it feel like it’s home.” The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
