190217-M-YD783-1007 ARABIAN SEA (Feb. 10, 2019) U.S. Marines with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, install a panel on the wing of an AV-8B Harrier in the hanger bay of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD-3). Marines attached to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 264 (REIN) perform routine maintenance on Harriers located aboard the Kearsarge to ensure that they will remain operationally functional while at sea. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
