Maj. Gen. James Ernst, the deputy adjutant general of the NCARNG, addresses the returning soldiers of the 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade’s 878th Engineer Company as well as their friends and family during the unit’s redeployment ceremony at the Bethlehem Church in Gastonia, N.C.. The 878th has a long history of service to its state and country. In 2005 the 878th deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and to El Salvador in 2011, in support of Operation Beyond Horizons, a humanitarian military-civic engagement.(U.S. Army National Guard photo by Staff Sgt.
