NAVAL AIR STATION NORTH ISLAND, Calif. (Feb. 25, 2019) Rear Adm. Alvin Holsey, Commander, Carrier Strike Group One, speaks with Naval Aircrewman (Tactical Helicopter) Airman Alfred G. Haslerig III and Lt. Aric McGee about their relatives who served with the Tuskegee Airmen during an African American and Black History Month celebration at Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 41 hanger bay at Naval Air Station North Island. The Navy joins the nation in celebrating the history of African American Sailors and civilians during African American/Black History Month, Feb. 1-28. The Navy encourages commands to participate in heritage celebrations and special observances throughout the year that honor the contributions, unique histories and cultures Navy's diverse Sailor and civilian team.
