Brig. Gen. Clarence K.K. Chinn (left), commanding general for Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk, receives a briefing from Capt.. Jason Albano, 178th Engineer Company, on their unit’s training with the during a week-long exercise held by 1st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade Dec. 5 to Dec. 9. The unit was conducting technical rescue training with to include trench, collapsed building and rope rescues. The 178th and other elements of 1st MEB are currently assigned in support of the Joint Task Force Civil Support, Defense Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Response Force. The DCRF is a total force of about 5,400 personnel consisting of primarily Army with augmentation from other services and civilians from active-duty, National Guard and reserve units, who deploy as the Department of Defense’s initial response force for a CBRNE incident.
