Col. Ben Skardon, a 1938 graduate of Clemson University, WWII POW, recipient of two Silver Stars, and survivor of the Bataan Death March, walks in the Bataan Memorial Death March at White Sands Missile Range, N.M. March 17, 2019. He is 101 years old, and the only survivor of the actual death march to walk in the memorial march. After he retired from the Army, he came back to Clemson and taught English until his retirement in 1982. A group of his former students, family members, ROTC cadets, and relatives of men he served with called "Ben's Brigade" walk with him. (Photo by Ken Scar)
