Rails for the Oklahoma City Streetcar are laid on two distinct paths throughout the downtown area to move people quickly and cheaply around. A group of Tinker-based Airmen cross the rails on March 8, 2019, after departing a Streetcar during Tinker’s First Term Airmen Center downtown tour in conjunction with the OKC Convention and Visitors Bureau. The initiative brings the military and civilian communities closer together in a unique program which began in January 2019. The group of Airmen spend part of a day downtown where they rode the new OKC Streetcar, for free, while learning about important landmarks, attractions and even where free parking is located. The downtown tour has quickly become a welcome capstone to the FTAC curriculum and, over time, should help integrate the military members with the community faster and smoother.
