ARABIAN GULF (March 22, 2019) The Cyclone-class coastal patrol ships USS Thunderbolt (PC 12), left, USS Whirlwind (PC 11), center, and the Island-class patrol boat USCGC Aquidneck (WPB 1309) navigate through the Arabian gulf. The Chinook is forward-deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
