The first wave amphibious assault vehicles, from 2nd Amphibian Assault Battalion, assemble and turn toward land during the beach assault phase of Exercise Bold Alligator Feb. 6. Each AAV can carry up to 21 troops plus three crew member and with more than 30 AAVs landing on the beach in a total of three waves, nearly 750 Marines were able to secure the beach and push forward to secure other key positions.
