A pair of MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft belonging to Marine Medium tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced) carrying Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit prepare to land before a 10 kilometer hike in the Central Training Area, Okinawa, Japan, March 29, 2019. More than 200 Marines and Sailors with the 31st MEU Command Element flew to a landing zone roughly 6 miles from the unit command post at Camp Hansen, marching back with full packs, protective vests and helmets to build morale and camaraderie after recently returning to garrison. The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a variety of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
