Sgt. Anthony Ellison of Bellevue, Ohio, stands in the back of a Buffalo mine resistant ambush protected armor vehicle as the 530th Engineer Company rolls through a village in Kandahar province's Spin Boldak district, Afghanistan. Deployed here in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, the soldiers of the 530th provide security and safety to fellow American soldiers and local Afghans by clearing the roads of improvised explosive devices. In more than 11 months in Afghanistan, the unit has cleared more than 100 IEDs, potentially saving thousands of lives and limbs.
