CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – Army Cpl. Eric Stanley, 637th Chemical Company, Ohio Army National Guard, ruck marches during the basic fitness test event of the German Armed Forces Badge (GAFB) for Military Proficiency on April 11, 2019, at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. During this part of the event, participants ruck march with a ruck sack weighing at least 33 pounds, not including food or water. Participants, preassigned a maximum distance based on prior performance, may earn gold for completing 12 kilometers within 120 minutes, silver for 9 kilometers within 90 minutes or bronze for 6 kilometers with 60 minutes. U.S. Army Central hosts events such as the GAFB to enhance service members’ personal abilities to stay combat ready which improves overall capabilities.
