190419-N-GC129-0010 YOKOSE, Japan (Apr. 19, 2019) Landing craft, air cushion (LCAC) Engineer, Hull Maintenance Technician 1st Class Jake Petersen (left), and LCAC Craftmaster, Chief Quartermaster George McLain, both assigned to Naval Beach Unit (NBU) 7, pilot their craft into the water during transit to embark the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force amphibious transport dock ship JS Kunisaki (LST 4003) as part of an LCAC interoperability exchange. U.S. and Japanese forces conduct bilateral amphibious exchanges on an ongoing basis in order to improve tactical proficiency and shared understanding of procedures.
