190416-N-EW498-363 NAVAL STATION MAYPORT (Apr. 16th, 2019) Mineman 1st Class Marion House, a native of Buffalo, New York and stationed on the Freedom-class Littoral Combat Ship USS Indianapolis (LCS-17), opens a hatch on the forecastle, during a damage control evolution, to begin de-smoking procedures aboard the training ship, USS Milwakee (LCS-5). With simulators and training ships, the crews of Littoral Combat Ships can be certified without being on their own haul, which allows for the crews to transfer almost seemlessly and lets the ship remain on station longer for increased presence.
