190328-N-QJ088-0105 CINCINNATI (March 28, 2019) The commanding officer of the future USS Cincinnati (LCS 20), Cmdr. Kurt Braeckel, greets two young children during the 100th Findlay Market Opening Day Parade. Braeckel and other Cincinnati crew members were in the city as a part of a namesake visit by the ship's crew. Littoral combat ships are high-speed, agile, shallow draft, mission-focused surface combatants designed for operations in the littoral environment, yet fully capable of open ocean operations.
