Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force 12.2 Marines work together to sink the base plate of the M224 Lightweight Mortar System, on Camp Lejeune, N.C., Feb. 15, 2012 in order to stabilize the weapon. Marines practiced firing the M224 and M252 Medium Extended Range Mortar System during an exercise meant to familiarize them with direct-lay-fire and hand-fire techniques. The training was a part of the SPMAGTF's pre-deployment exercises preparing the Marines for their upcoming deployment to Africa.
