Guyana Defense Force soldiers gather around a helicopter while receiving training on air assault techniques and procedures from special operations forces assigned to the 7th Special Forces Group, March 3 near Camp Stephenson, outside the capital city of Georgetown. The training event is part of Exercise Fused Response 2012, a joint Guyana - U.S. military exchange between members of the Guyana Defense Force and U.S. military. This exercise is aimed at improving interoperability and increase capacity among the participating forces. Special Operations Command South serves as the executive agent for this exercise. As the Special Operations component for U.S. Southern Command, SOCSOUTH plans and executes all special operations activities across the Caribbean, Central and South America.
