Soldiers receive training on air assault techniques and procedures from special operations forces assigned to the 7th Special Forces Group, March 3 near Camp Stephenson, outside the capital city of Georgetown. The training is part of Exercise Fused Response 2012, which involves Guyana Defense Forces and U.S. working together in order to enhance their collective ability to combat regional threats such as terrorism, illicit trafficking and organized crime. Special Operations Command South serves as the executive agent for this exercise. As the Special Operations component for U.S. Southern Command, SOCSOUTH plans and executes all special operations activities across the Caribbean, Central and South America.
