VP-40 is deployed to the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security. VP-40 is the last active-duty squadron to fly the P-3C Orion aircraft and after this deployment will transition to the P-8 Poseidon.
