190509-N-CL765-1005 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (May 9, 2019) Aviaton Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class Kathryn Bismonte, right, and Aviation Machinist’s Mate 3rd Class Jennaviere Gravois, attached to Patrol Squadron (VP) 40, use a rubber mallet while attaching a propeller sling during a pump housing change on a P-3C Orion Aircraft. VP-40 is deployed to the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security. VP-40 is the last active-duty squadron to fly the P-3C Orion aircraft and after this deployment will transition to the P-8 Poseidon.
