Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum volunteer Danny Martin, punches the tickets for a group of visiting students. The Bessemer, Ala., native and retired electrician has always loved trains. The inventory making up the near all-volunteer staff operated museum includes: nine diesel locomotives (six were used by the U.S. Army), four steam engines, nine passenger cars, three cabooses, two U.S. Army flatcars, three former U.S. Air Force cars and 30 other train components such as dining and postal cars, as well as a steam engine that was built for and used by the Army.
