NEW YORK (May 22, 2019) Navy Recruiters speak to students at Francis Lewis High School, Fresh Meadows, N.Y., to raise Navy awareness during Navy Recruiting Command’s Swarm New York evolution in conjunction with Fleet Week New York (FWNY) 2019. Top recruiters from Navy Recruiting Command, Navy Recruiting District New York and various other recruiting commands from around the nation comprise a 153 person recruiting swarm team. Swarm is a new recruiting strategy in support of the national policy to build a 355-ship Navy. FWNY 2019 takes place from May 22-28, 2019. Held nearly every year since 1984, it is the city’s celebration of the sea services. This year marks the 31st year. FWNY provides an opportunity for the citizens of New York City and the surrounding tri-state area to meet Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, as well as see firsthand the latest capabilities of today’s maritime services.
