Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno, commander of Multi-National Corps-Iraq, pins the Silver Star on Staff Sgt. Brandon A. Zylstra, left, during a ceremony at Forward Operating Base Loyalty in eastern Baghdad Aug. 5. Zylstra, a native of Sully, Iowa, and a squad leader with the 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment based out of Fort Bragg, received the award for his actions April 10 which saved his Soldiers lives and redirected fire against the enemy in Baghdad's Al Fadhl neighborhood.
