Former President Jimmy Carter, center, and Chief Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handler) Raul Rodriguez, crash and salvage leading chief petty officer, pose wearing proximity suites during a tour of the amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5). Carter and his foundation's nearly 250 guests and flag officers, hosted by Vice Adm. Gerald Beaman, commander of U.S. 3rd Fleet, spent the day visiting with sailors and Marines, seeing various areas of the ship and aircraft.
