Mekayla Frazier (second from left), a junior at Gulliver Preparatory Academy, Pinecrest, Florida, formally accepts an invitation to participate in the Marine Corps' Semper Fidelis All-American Program from Gunnery Sgt. Isaac Cordeiro (left), the staff noncommissioned officer-in-charge of Recruiting Substation South Dade, and Staff Sgt. Victor Buendia (right), the assistant SNCOIC of RSS South Dade, at her high school, May 10, 2019. By accepting the Marine Corps' invitation, Frazier, a 17-year-old native of Pinecrest, will get the opportunity to attend the Battles Won Academy, a four-day leadership and development workshop in Washington, D.C., along with 95 other students from across the nation. During the academy, they will participate in daily physical training with Marines, receive leadership instruction, participate in community service projects, listen to keynote speakers and engage in a variety of other activities that familiarize them with Marine Corps values and leadership principles.
