Charles Shaffer stands with his fellow U.S. Army non-commissioned officers and recites the NCO Creed during his promotion ceremony at the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command headquarters building, Feb. 7, 2012. After Shaffer recited the first sentence, SDDC NCOs took turns reciting the remaining words. The emotional event ended with Command Sgt. Maj. James Riddick reciting the final sentence of the NCO creed: "I will not forget, nor will I allow my comrades to forget that we are professionals, non-commissioned officers, leaders!"
