190624-N-UM706-0325 GULF OF ADEN (June 24, 2019) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Nitze (DDG 94) conducts a replenishment-at-sea with the fleet replenishment oiler USNS Big Horn (T-AO 198) and a vertical replenishment with the dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Cesar Chavez (T-AKE 14). Nitze is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
