Brig. Gen. Kenneth E. Brandt, Chief Chaplain for the Army National Guard, presents the Four Chaplain’s medal to Capt. Rachel M. Zarnke, chaplain for the New Jersey National Guard’s 1st Squadron, 102nd Cavalry Regiment, during a ceremony at the Joint Training Center in Jordan, June 4, 2019. The medal is a U.S. Army Chaplains Corps regimental medal awarded to only one Army chaplain each year for collegial selfless behavior while rendering religious support to the military community regardless of faith or race. It is named after four Army chaplains who, during WWII, gave their lives saving civilian and military personnel as the ship they were on sank.
