190702-N-LW591-006 GROTON, Conn. (July 2, 2019) British Foreign Exchange Officer Lt. Stephen Cox, assigned to Virginia-class fast attack submarine, USS Colorado (SSN 788), is pinned with his submarine qualification during a ceremony on the pier at Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, Conn. The submarine warfare insignia, known as "dolphins" or "fish," is a uniform breast pin worn by enlisted and officers of the U.S. Navy to indicate that they are qualified in submarines. To earn the right to wear the pin, aspiring, submariners must successfully complete a rigorous qualification process.
