190702-N-LW591-008 GROTON, Conn. (July 2, 2019) British Foreign Exchange Officer Lt. Stephen Cox, assigned to Virginia-class fast attack submarine, USS Colorado (SSN 788), poses for picture with Colorado’s crewmember after a pinning ceremony where Cox received his submarine qualification on the pier at Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, Conn. The submarine warfare insignia, known as "dolphins" or "fish," is a uniform breast pin worn by enlisted and officers of the U.S. Navy to indicate that they are qualified in submarines. To earn the right to wear the pin, aspiring, submariners must successfully complete a rigorous qualification process.
