Despite the cold and the rain, many volunteers where happy to assist the National Guard by volunteering themselves as a simulated casualties during a training exercise on Aug. 23. Members of the National Guard from all around the state and civilian volunteers participated in a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and High Yield Explosive (CBRNE) Enhanced Response Force Package (CERF-P) training in preparation for certification. The Minnesota National Guard is establishing a new emergency response team to provide immediate capabilities to the governor including: incident site search capability of damaged buildings, rescuing trapped casualties, providing decontamination, and performing medical triage and initial treatment to stabilize patients for transport to medical facilities.
