U.S. Army 1st Sgt. Nicolle Clarke, the Medical Company (MEDCO), Task Force Sinai first sergeant, passes the guidon to Capt. Ashli N. Carlson, outgoing MEDCO commander, during a change of command ceremony at South Camp, Egypt, July 8, 2019. The Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) differ from other peacekeeping missions as specified in the 1979 Treaty of Peace. The MFO would not act as a buffer between combatants nor as an instrument of merely interim or truce arrangements, but rather would work closely with two nations to support a permanent peace that they had already struggled together to forge and maintain. While each receiving state continues to exercise sovereignty over its respective territories. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. Kulani J. Lakanaria)
