Italian Col. Giuseppe Lavato speaks after assuming command of the Kurdistan Training Coordination Center (KTCC) from Italian Col. Antonio Fantastico, in Erbil, Iraq, June 26, 2019. The KTCC is an 8-nation joint effort that manages the training of local security forces under a unified command structure. Levato said his intent would be to continue the process initiated by his predecessor, with particular focus on leadership courses and developing instructors, especially at the battalion and brigade staff level. Coalition Forces are in Iraq at the invitation of the Government of Iraq to train and advise in support of the enduring mission to defeat Daesh.
