Chief Mineman Paul Bowling, from Hazard, Ky., assigned to Mine Countermeasures (MCM), Detachment 1, embarked aboard littoral combat ship USS Independence (LCS 2), uses an emergency breath air compressor (EBAC) to fill self controlled breathing apparatus (SCBA) bottle during all hands damage control training in the mission bay aboard the ship. Independence's Gold Crew and embarked MCM are underway for the ship's maiden voyage to San Diego after successfully completing testing on the MCM mission package.
